Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre

The Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre is China's first and largest integrated launch facility for missiles and satellites.  It is also the launch site of various carrier rockets for space missions and the only launch site for manned space missions in China.  It possesses a complete and reliable launch facility, capable of sending large-angle, medium-/low-orbit satellites into space.

Among the 23 launch facilities in the world, Jiuquan is ranked similarly with the Baikonur Launch Site of the ex-Soviet Union and the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) of the US, all of which are capable of launching manned space missions.  On October 15, 2003, October 12, 2005 and September 25, 2008, the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre rocked the world by successfully launching Shenzhou Spaceship V, Shenzhou Spaceship VI and Shenzhou Spaceship VII, respectively.

The spaceship and satellite launch facility has unique requirements regarding power supply.  The launch centre is an extremely precise system that is installed with various precise instruments, monitoring devices and control equipment that demand the highest PQ requirements.  Voltage sags and harmonics may interfere or damage the normal operation of these instruments.  Worse yet, PQ events may even interrupt the entire system, leading to launch failure and resulting in serious economic losses.  Therefore, it is of critical importance to implement close monitoring of power quality at the Jiuquan Launch Centre.

CET has provided the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre with its PQSys software and advanced PQ monitors that are responsible for monitoring the power quality of the high-voltage incoming lines.
